New Guidance: Telemedicine Visits Count Towards FMLA
January 8, 2021The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has confirmed that employees who seek medical treatment via telemedicine visits could qualify for leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) in the new year.
The FMLA offers eligible employees the opportunity to take up to 12 weeks of protected unpaid leave from work (and perhaps more) for their own “serious health condition” or when caring for certain family members with serious health conditions. OMA Connections Partner Fisher Phillips advises that in light of the DOL’s revisions, employers should review their policies and practices with respect to FMLA leave. 1/4/2021
No Paid Leave Requirements in New COVID-19 Law
January 8, 2021OMA general counsel Bricker & Eckler has published updated guidance regarding the new federal COVID-19 law, which did not extend paid leave requirements beyond Dec. 31, 2020. The law extended the paid leave tax credit for covered employers until March 31 under certain conditions. Read more. 1/4/2021
