A bill advancing in the Ohio Senate would prohibit private-sector employers from asking applicants about their criminal history — a proposal the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association (OMA) strongly opposes. The measure would restrict employers’ ability to make informed hiring decisions and protect workplace safety.
Manufacturers across Ohio, including many OMA members, are already leading the way in offering meaningful employment opportunities for returning citizens through targeted training and re-entry programs. The OMA maintains that government mandates like this bill undermine effective, employer-driven workforce solutions that are already working.
