Update:  On October 24, 2012, the PUCO approved the results of FirstEnergy’s wholesale electricity auction, which will determine FirstEnergy’s retail generation service rates from June 1, 2013 through May 31, 2016. Five suppliers submitted bids during the auction this week, with an average clearing price of $60.89 per MWh. The clearing price is higher than previous auctions, but the PUCO stated that there will be higher capacity prices due to PJM’s recent RPM auction.
