Update: The PUCO accepted the arguments of OMA Energy Group and others by taking quick action to implement the Ohio Supreme Court’s recent decision which found that AEP had been unlawfully collecting certain costs through the Retail Stability Rider (RSR). In its decision, the Court found the PUCO erred in authorizing AEP Ohio to collect the equivalent of transition revenue through the RSR. Pursuant to the PUCO’s order, AEP must file revised tariffs that provide that the RSR is being collected subject to refund effective with the June 2016 billing cycle. The remaining balance to be collected from customers under the current RSR is estimated to be around $310 million.
