Update: Recall that the PUCO previously ruled that storm rider recovery is an appropriate vehicle for utilities to recover costs incurred as a result of major storms. Further, the PUCO directed AEP-Ohio to work with intervening parties to come to a resolution regarding the storm damage expenses incurred as a result of last summer’s storms. Thus, this week, AEP-Ohio met with the OMAEG and other stakeholders in an attempt to settle the case. The settlement meeting involved a review of the reasonableness of AEP-Ohio’s storm damage expenses. AEP-Ohio requests recovery of $61.8 million, of which the PUCO Staff recommends reducing by $2.3 million and OCC recommends reducing by $8 million. AEP-Ohio is composing sample bill impacts and will likely schedule another settlement meeting prior to the July 1, 2013 deadline to reply to the PUCO. We will continue to participate in settlement discussions and will provide updates accordingly.
