Ohio Has Paid $3.5B in Unemployment Benefits Since Mid-March

More than 34,000 Ohio workers filed initial claims for unemployment compensation last week, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS). This brings the total received in the previous 11 weeks to nearly 1.3 million, or roughly 22% of the state’s civilian labor force. ODJFS has sent more than $3.5 billion in unemployment compensation payments to more than 668,000 workers during this period. 6/4/2020
