Miami University

Miami University offers a major in Engineering Technology with four specialized concentrations: Mechanical and Industrial; Electro-Mechanical and Automation; Electrical, Computer and Robotics; and Applied Science. The program emphasizes hands-on, applied learning that integrates engineering principles with modern manufacturing, automation, and systems integration.

The Engineering Technology associate degree gives students a broad introduction to mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and automation technologies through hands-on, applied learning. Students work with technical drawing, manufacturing processes, circuits, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), materials, and automated systems.

The Mechanical Engineering Technology associate degree prepares students for immediate entry into technical careers in manufacturing and mechanical systems. Students gain hands-on experience with computer-aided drafting (CAD), computer numerical control programming (CNC), materials, and production processes while learning how products are designed and made.

Mechanical systems. Electronics. Controls. Automation. The Mechatronics Engineering Technology associate degree brings them together so students can experience how technologies connect, communicate, and work as one integrated system. Students work with circuits, digital systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), mechanical systems, and automation while learning to troubleshoot real systems.
