U.S. manufacturing activity expanded again in June, marking the sixth consecutive month of growth, according to the Institute for Supply Management.
Five of the six largest manufacturing industries reported expansion, while new orders also grew for the sixth straight month. The broader U.S. economy expanded for the 20th consecutive month.
“Six straight months of manufacturing growth and 20 months of broader economic expansion are encouraging signs,” said Dave O’Neil, director of communications for the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association. “Manufacturers remain resilient, and stronger demand combined with lean customer inventories could create additional opportunities for production and investment in the months ahead.”
The pace of manufacturing growth eased slightly from May, and manufacturers continue to face price volatility and global uncertainty. Still, the report found optimism beginning to improve as demand remained positive and customer inventories stayed low. 7/6/2026
