OMA Leaders See Ohio’s Nuclear Future Taking Shape

Ohio Manufacturers’ Association (OMA) leaders visited member Centrus Energy yesterday for a firsthand look at the precision manufacturing and advanced technology helping rebuild America’s domestic nuclear fuel industry.

OMA President Ryan Augsburger was joined by Lindsey Short, Nick Miller and Nate Mays, along with Brad Belden, president and COO of The Belden Brick Company and chair of OMA’s Energy Committee; Kim Bojko, OMA’s chief energy counsel; and Tim Ling, senior director of environmental at Plaskolite. Ray Fischels, Centrus’ director of centrifuge assembly, led the facility tour, offering an inside look at the specialized equipment and expertise behind the company’s operations.

The visit comes as Centrus advances a multibillion-dollar expansion of its uranium enrichment operations in Piketon. Supported in part by a $900 million federal award, the project is expected to create 1,000 construction jobs and 300 permanent positions while strengthening domestic nuclear fuel production. The investment underscores Ohio’s growing role in meeting America’s energy needs and reducing reliance on foreign suppliers.

“Ohio manufacturers need reliable, affordable electricity, and that requires a strong, secure domestic energy supply chain,” Short said. “Centrus is making a significant investment in the technology, skilled workers and production capacity our country needs. Expanding American nuclear fuel production strengthens energy security and supports the long-term competitiveness of Ohio manufacturing.” 10/29/2026
