The Ohio Manufacturers’ Association (OMA) welcomed a delegation of German political and communications professionals to its Columbus headquarters yesterday for a discussion about Ohio manufacturing, economic competitiveness and the public policies affecting industry.

The delegation included representatives of Germany’s Free Democratic Party and professionals involved in political communications and international engagement. The Columbus visit was part of a broader U.S. program that also included Washington, D.C.

OMA representatives, board members and Ohio manufacturers discussed the industry’s priorities, including affordable energy, workforce development and a regulatory environment that supports investment and growth. The exchange also offered insight into how OMA engages policymakers, communicates manufacturing concerns and works with its members to advance policies that strengthen Ohio’s industrial economy.

“Whether you’re manufacturing in Ohio or Germany, the fundamentals don’t change,” said Jacob Sargent, OMA director of public policy services. “Companies need affordable energy, a skilled workforce and a business climate that encourages investment. Those priorities cross borders.” 10/29/2026
