Columbus Lands First Nonstop Flight to Europe

Ohio’s international business connections are taking flight. Lufthansa will launch nonstop service between John Glenn Columbus International Airport and Frankfurt, Germany, in May 2027, giving central Ohio its first direct connection to Europe and opening new opportunities for international business travel, investment and manufacturing partnerships.

The new route will operate three days a week aboard a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, connecting Columbus to one of Europe’s leading manufacturing and transportation hubs. The service joins Ohio’s existing nonstop European connections from Cleveland to Dublin and Cincinnati to London and Paris. With more than 750 German-owned business establishments operating across Ohio, the new flights could strengthen relationships with international suppliers, customers and investors.

“Manufacturing has made Ohio a global economic player, and our transportation infrastructure needs to reflect that,” said Ryan Augsburger, president of the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association. “A nonstop connection to Frankfurt makes it easier to build relationships, attract international investment and connect Ohio companies with customers and partners around the world.”

Flights are scheduled for Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with connections to more than 130 destinations through Frankfurt. 10/19/2026
