Chairman of the Board – and Chief Executive Officer
Marc Bitzer was named chief executive officer effective October 2017 and was elected Chairman of the Board effective January 1, 2019.
Bitzer joined Whirlpool Europe in 1999 as vice president, Bauknecht brand group. He became senior vice president, marketing sales and services, Whirlpool Europe, in 2000 and was named president of Whirlpool Europe in January 2006. Between 2009-2013, he went on to serve as president of Whirlpool North America and President of U.S. operations and later was named vice chairman which included overall leadership of North America, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Before joining Whirlpool Europe, Bitzer worked for eight years at the Boston Consulting Group in Munich and Toronto, and was named vice president in 1999.
Bitzer earned both his MBA and doctorate from the St. Gallen Graduate School of Business, Economics and Law in Switzerland.
Dr. Marc Bitzer also serves on the Supervisory Board of BMW AG, appointed in May, 2021.
Chief Data Analyst for NBC News and NBC Sports
Steve Kornacki is well known for breaking down complex data in an easily understandable way for coverage of the worlds of politics, culture and sports. Using a customized interactive touchscreen that pinpoints key developments and trends at the micro level, he has presented real-time, on-air reporting of national election results for more than a decade.
He appears regularly on “Meet the Press,” “Today”, and “Nightly News” and utilizes a similar data-centric approach for NBC Sports’ coverage the National Football League, Kentucky Derby, and Olympics. And while it’s admittedly not his primary area of expertise, he’s nonetheless enjoyed analyzing various trends for NBC’s annual coverage of the National Dog Show on Thanksgiving Day.
Prior to joining NBC, Steve covered Congress for the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call and wrote about national politics for the New York Observer. He began his career covering New Jersey state politics and co-hosting a weekly political news show. In addition to his journalism career, Kornacki is the author of the book, “The Red and the Blue: The 1990s and the Birth of Political Tribalism,” and the host of “The Revolution,” a seven-part podcast series that traces the rise of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and the Republican takeover of Congress in 1994. He is a native of Groton, Massachusetts.
