In Ohio, you can ship on a truck one coil of steel with a weight limit of 120,000 lbs.  You can ship on a truck two coils of steel at 120,000 lbs.  But, if you want to ship three coils on a truck, the weight limit is 92,000 lbs.  Don’t try to make sense of this, because you can’t.

Ohio steel producers and steel consumers are trying  to change this rule.  They are working with Rep. Ross McGregor (R-Springfield), Senator Steve Buehrer (R-Delta) and the Ohio Department of Transportation.  Opposing the change: the railroad industry.

This one seems to be just exactly the kind of rule that Governor Strickland ordered state agencies to change with his “common sense business regulation” executive order.
